Titans start season 2-1 thanks to zero turnovers

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Through three games this season, the biggest number for the Tennessee Titans is zero.

The Titans have zero turnovers in three games, a big reason for their 2-1 start.

The Titans and Kansas City Chiefs are the only teams in the NFL not turn the ball over this season.

The Chiefs are 3-0 and another on of the surprises in the league.  The Chiefs are No. 1 in the league in turnover differential with a plus-9, while the Titans are fourth at plus-5.

Jake Locker, the Chiefs' Alex Smith and the Broncos' Peyton Manning are the only three quarterbacks in the NFL not to throw an interception this season.  They're a combined 8-1.

Locker is 51 of 87 this season for 572 yards and three touchdowns.  Those are modest numbers, but his quarterback rating is a lofty 89.8, the key stat for that number, zero turnovers.

Blitzing has not flustered Locker this season.  Against San Diego he was at his best facing extra defenders. Locker completed 10 of 14 passes against the Blitz for almost 200 yards.

Sunday the Titans host the New York Jets and rookie quarterback Geno Smith.  Smith has over 200 more passing yards this season than Locker, but he also has six turnovers.

Whichever quarterback wins the turnover battle Sunday likely wins the game.

Kickoff is set for 3:05 p.m. at LP Field.
