2 crashes lead to injuries overnight Saturday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Two crashes leading to multiple injuries took place within miles of each other late Saturday night.

The first crash occurred around 10:40 p.m. at McGavock Pike and Currey Road, not far from Murfreesboro Pike.

A woman was driving north on McGavock in a Toyota Corolla when, for an unknown reason, she crossed the center of the road and hit a Chevy traveling in the opposite direction.

The people in the Chevy were transported to Southern Hills Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The woman in the Toyota was sent to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

No further details were immediately released.  The investigation is ongoing.

The second crash was reported just before 11 p.m. a few miles down Murfreesboro Pike at the intersection of  Pin Hook Road.

According to police, the driver was traveling north on Murfreesboro Road when, for an unknown reason, she traveled off the roadway and struck a gas line.

The driver and a male passenger were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

A section of Murfreesboro Road was closed for about an hour while crews made repairs and contained the leak.

No further details were immediately released.
