Students at Belmont University in Nashville are on heightened alert after a flasher exposed himself near campus during the early morning hours Thursday.
According to a Belmont security bulletin, the middle-aged chubby white man jumped out of a blue Ford Explorer completely naked just after Midnight near the intersection of 15th Avenue South and Bernard Avenue.
He took a few steps toward a co-ed and she ran onto campus to Kennedy Hall where she called for help.
By the time Belmont security arrived, the flasher was gone.
Students who spoke with News 2 Friday say the incident is a reminder to be vigilant.
"It's important. Even though this is a safe campus and Belmont security is top on their job, it is very important for us to stay vigilant," said Jonathan West, a junior majoring in social entrepreneurship.
Tedi Knaak, a sophomore studying commercial voice, added, "I feel like our campus is pretty safe. We have security around all the time. We just put in these blue light phones. I always try to walk with someone at night but it's good to know they are always letting us know what is going on."
Metro police sex crimes detectives are now working the case but say man's description does not match any other crimes in the city.
Anyone with information is urged to call Metro police or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
