NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Two vehicles were struck by a loose tire that flew off of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 40 early Friday morning.

The incident occurred at 1 a.m. in Davidson County near mile marker 200, just before the Old Hickory Boulevard exit.

Authorities said the tractor-trailer was travelling eastbound when its tire came off, rolled across the interstate and over the median into westbound lanes.

The tire then struck a UPS truck and an SUV.

The driver of the UPS truck told News 2 the tire barely missed the windshield of the SUV, which could've caused serious injuries.

Then after striking the SUV, the tire travelled back across the interstate into eastbound lanes.

No injuries have been reported.  Charges are not expected.
