MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -

Two men are in police custody, charged with robbing a female student outside a dormitory on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro Thursday morning.

According to police, the victim was approached by two black males outside Peck Hall around 2 a.m.

The pair, identified as Marcus Preston, 25, and Cephus Spicer, 20, showed a weapon and demanded the woman's belongings.  She complied and the suspects fled on foot.

The woman was not injured.

A Murfreesboro police K-9 unit was brought to the scene and traced the suspects for a time but the trail went cold.

Two hours later, around 4 a.m., Preston and Spricer were located across campus from where the crime occurred and arrested.

MTSU police spokesperson Sgt. Broede Stucky said the men are not students at MTSU.

Preston is from Brownsville and Spicer is from Ripley.

They are charged with aggravated robbery and more charges are possible.

The armed robbery is the third on-campus robbery in two days in Middle Tennessee.  Two separate robberies happened on the campus of Vanderbilt University in Nashville Wednesday morning.
