Man indicted for beating acquaintance to death in Nashville alley

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police have indicted a man for the beating death of a 53-year-old man more than four years ago.

Police believe Paul Davis II beat Michael Parsley to death in a west Nashville alley in April 2009 before burying his body in a shallow grave in Wayne County.

Initially Davis, 46,  was taken into custody on Monday after police pulled him over on Sixth Avenue South at Peabody for careless driving.

Officers discovered pills inside the vehicle for which Davis said he did not have a prescription for.

He was jailed on a $75,000 bond prior to his first degree murder indictment Tuesday.

Parsley's body was discovered by authorities in rural Wayne County Friday morning.

Police said the pair was acquaintances.

Davis remains jailed on a $250,000 bond. A motive was not immediately released.
