Carolyn Corlew, a longtime background vocalist for the Charlie Daniels Band, will travel to Atlantic City next month to compete in the Ms. Senior America Pageant.
Corlew won the title of Ms. Senior Wilson County at the Wilson County Fair last August and was crowned Ms. Tennessee Senior this summer.
Corlew's daughter Taylor is helping her get pageant ready.
"She would pick out little stuff and I would go, ‘We have to go bigger. Bigger is better,' so she's got a giant necklace, and giant earrings and she'll have on all my bracelets. She'll be blinged for sure," Taylor Corlew News 2.
Corlew purchased her dress for the pageant, which weighs about 20 pounds, at a consignment shop.
"I think it's a great journey and I'm really excited," Corlew told News 2. ‘I'm really looking forward to having fun and just enjoying each day and meeting all the other ladies and the events of the pageant but I'm in it to win it so it would be fun to bring it home to Tennessee and Wilson County."
The national pageant will take place October 20-25on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
