Clarksville electricity officials warn customers of phone scam

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

Clarksville's Department of Electricity is warning customers to be aware of a telephone scam.

CDE Lightband officials reported people are pretending to be an employee and asking customers to make payments over the phone using a credit card for past due accounts.

The scammers threaten to shut off a customer's electricity if they do not make the payment.

Officials said they do not call customers asking for payments regarding overdue accounts by phone.

Anyone who believes they may have been targeted by the scammers should contact CDE Lightband at 931-648-8151 or access their account information at ClarksvilleDE.com.
