Company helps get motorists, cars home safely

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A new service aimed at helping people get home after having a few too many drinks has hit Nashville streets.

The Scooter Squad eliminates the hassle of not only finding a safe way home, but also the worry of leaving your car somewhere overnight.

"We add safety and convenience at a great value," said Michael Beauchamp, CEO and Owner.

When someone calls the service, a driver shows up with their own motorized scooter.

The scooter is small and foldable, allowing drivers to fold it up and pack it into a bag so that they can drive the caller home in their own vehicle.

""That way you don't have to worry about dealing with your car the next morning, that hassle; or risking driving drunk and getting a DUI," Beauchamp explained.

The driver then takes their own scooter back to the business or moves on to the next call.

The scooters even have a fuel shot-off system that ensures a customer's car will not get dirty.  It also folds so easily, it fits inside a large zippered bag.

Scoot Squad says they are doing so well, they're even looking for more drivers.

"Right now we have six drivers and five scooters," Beauchamp said. "As we get more into this, we are going to build more scooters. That way we have as many scooters as the town will allow for."

It costs $12 for pick up plus $3 a mile.  The price ends up being cheaper than round-trip in a cab.
