Gunman robs west Nashville Waffle House

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A man entered a west Nashville Waffle House armed with a handgun early Monday morning.

The robbery occurred at 4:30 a.m. at the restaurant located at 6930 Charlotte Pike off if Interstate 40.

Police said the suspect, a black male, entered the building in with his face covered, carrying a semi-automatic handgun.

Two employees were inside at the time of the robbery.

The suspect demanded cash from the register and fled on foot with an undetermined amount of money.

The canine unit responded to the scene and attempted to run a track, but was unsuccessful.

It is unknown if any customers were inside at the time.

The investigation is on-going.

Authorities obtained surveillance footage from inside the restaurant.

They told News 2 the suspect has a very pronounced stutter, and are hoping that will help lead to his identity.

He is described as a black male in his mid 20s, weighing approximately 180 pounds.  He was wearing a dark blue shirt and blue jeans with a white t-shirt wrapped around his face.
