NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The Tennessee Democratic Party held it's annual "Jackson Day Dinner" Saturday evening.

Senator Tim Kaine energized the party at the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville.

Along with Senator Kaine, the event featured remarks from TNDP Chairman Roy Herron and a salute to Tennessee mayors and local elected leaders.

The dinner was a fundraiser and democrats said they raised 500% more money this year than in 2012.

The TNDP also honored Congressman Jim Cooper with the "Governor Ned McWherter Legacy Award."

The award is given for a lifetime of service to Tennesseans.
