Ex-MTSU football players to appear in court for alleged choking incident

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -

Three former Middle Tennessee State University football players involved in a videotape of a young woman being choked are scheduled to be in court Thursday.

James "J.D." Jones is accused of choking his then girlfriend at an on-campus apartment complex last November.

He is charged with domestic aggravated assault.

Rodney O'Neal and Marcus Robinson, also former football players, are face aiding and abetting charges.

Police said the pair narrated a video that allegedly showed Jones choking the victim.

All trio surrendered to police in mid-July after the video surfaced.  

All three men were dismissed from MTSU's football team in late July.
