We are in for some of the hottest weather of the summer as we head through the last week of August.
By the mid to later part of the week, and into Labor Day Weekend, we are expecting temperatures to rise into the mid 90s.
In the two graphics to the right, you can see the big ridge of high pressure in the upper levels that builds in the Mississippi Valley and extends across the mid south.
As we've explained before, high pressure aloft creates subsiding air that compresses and heats up.
Although our humidity is a little lower right now than it was last week, it will be rising this week along with the temperatures.
Just in time for college football and Labor Day Weekend. Ugh!
