Two Boots Pizza brings slice of New York City to Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A famed pizza restaurant from New York City has made its way to Nashville.

Two Boots Pizza, which had its start in the East Village of Manhattan in 1987, opened their new location at 1925 Broadway in Midtown early July.

"Nashville had everything we were looking for in a Two Boots city. It is urban; it's growing; you have folks moving back into the city as opposed to leaving the city," said Sam Boyer, owner of Nashville's new location.

He stated Nashville is a city that is open to outside influences and trying new things, citing the multitude of colleges students around town, along with the thriving music and arts scene.

In Boyer's words, Two Boots provides a different spin on the traditional New York City pizza parlor.

"Our founder was an artist and filmmaker, and created this incredibly unique, vibrant place," he said.

Included in their menu are three pies made specially for Music City. "The Kitty" features Hattie B's Hot Chicken with a dose of bleu cheese dressing and jalapenos.

"The Great Escape", titled after the local record store of the same name, is made with andouille meatballs, pepperoni, fresh basil and ricotta.  The new pizzeria is located where the record store used to be.

The third local specialty pizza is called "The Clyde", created with Two Boots' spinach and artichoke dip and "a stylish sprinkling" of jalapenos.
