22-year-old shot while waiting for ride in east Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Police have a person of interest in a shooting that occurred Wednesday night in east Nashville.

A caller reported the shooting just before 11 p.m. at 1500 Porter Road in the Berkshire Apartment complex.

Officers were unable to locate a victim, but found one shell-casing.

Dispatch then notified police that a gunshot victim was at Skyline Hospital.

During an interview, the 22-year-old victim told police he was hanging out with friends and decided to leave.

While waiting for his ride outside, he approached by a black male who pointed a small caliber black handgun at him and attempted to rob him.

As the victim stood up, the gunman shot him once in the upper left thigh.

The suspect ran as other residents came outside.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was driven to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Police reported located a person of interest and were questioning that person.
