Man stabbed, dumped from car in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. -

A man crawled to a nearby home after being stabbed multiple times and tossed from a car Sunday morning.

Residents of the home, who live in the 4900 block of Palestine Road in Springfield, called police just before 10 a.m. and tried to control the man's bleeding until medics could arrive.

According to Smokey Barn News, the 30-year-old victim suffered multiple stab wounds and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities reported that once inside an ambulance, it was discovered the man was stabbed multiple times in his leg, once in the arm, and three times to his chest and abdomen.

The newspaper said the victim will need surgery for internal injuries.

No further information has been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
