MOORE, Okla. -

A Super Bowl-winning coach happened upon a puppy stuck in a hot car while walking through an Oklahoma parking lot last week.

KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City reported that former Dallas Cowboys coach Barry Switzer didn't just keep walking.

Even though the car's windows were rolled down, he felt bad for the puppy and rescued the Rottweiler through a window.

Switzer waited for the owners to return and bought the dog on the spot.

He then took it to the vet to get a complete medical work-up.

"I told the doc I want rabies shots, check for worms, everything," Switzer told the news station. "They even clipped the toenails so it was a pedicure for her. She went to the spa."

Since he already has a dog, a German Shepard, he wanted to give the puppy to a home that needed one.

Switzer donated it to a family in Moore, Oklahoma that lost everything when a devastating tornado hit last May.

He explained that he just wanted to give the pup to a loving family who loves and cares about dogs.
