CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

A homicide investigation is underway after a 38-year-old man was found dead Thursday morning outside Northwest High School in Clarksville.

Daniel Reed was found in the school's parking lot around 6 a.m. after authorities received a call regarding a shooting at the school's address on Lafayette Road off Fort Campbell Boulevard.

Police are asking for the public's assistance and want to speak to anyone who has knowledge of Reed's whereabouts prior to the shooting, which is believed to have occurred just before 2 a.m.

Police told Nashville's News 2 the incident did not involve any high school staff or students.

The investigation is ongoing.

School began as scheduled, but buses and those arriving in cars were rerouted to preserve the crime scene.

Several high school classes were also moved to another area of the school because of the crime scene's location.

Schools buses for a nearby elementary school were also late arriving because they had to take the inclement weather route around the scene.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact police at 931-648-0656 or Crime Stoppers at 931-645-TIPS.
