Police: Drug dealer reports stolen safe full of weed, cash

Police in Murfreesboro arrested a 19-year-old man after he allegedly told police his safe containing marijuana and drug money had been stolen.

The Murfreesboro Post reports that the man was arrested August 1 after authorities found his safe mere hours after the home invasion in the 1300 block of Wenlon Drive.

After the home invasion, police said the man called police to tell he was upset because "he sold marijuana" for a living and the "only item taken from the home was a safe".

Detectives found a safe matching the description and called the man to the station.

Once the man arrived, a K9 unit alerted on the safe and authorities asked the man if it as his and if all the contents were his, the newspaper reports.

When the man identified the safe as his, he allegedly consented to a search of the items inside.

Police then found half a pound of marijuana, a bag of pills and $930 in cash.

They said the man, when confronted, "admitted that was drug money in the safe and he sold marijuana for profit".

He was arrested and charged with felony possession of a schedule IV substance.

He has since been released on $3,000 bond.
