Gallatin Pike businesses hit hard by flash flooding

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Flash flooding wreaked havoc in the Madison area Thursday morning.

Businesses along Gallatin Pike South near East Webster Street were hit particularly hard.

There's a small creek that runs under the road and under two strip malls.

The creek came out of its banks, flooded businesses and even ripped a salon from its foundation.

A dumpster also floated across Gallatin Pike and onto the sidewalk.

The floodwaters have since receded, leaving mud, rocks and cinder blocks in the street.

Officers draped police tape to keep owners out of their businesses because there was thought to be a gas leak early on.

More rain is in the forecast for Thursday afternoon.

Clean-up began Friday. Police are monitoring the area keeping an eye on looters.
