Antioch hockey rinks approved by Metro Council

Plans for a new ice hockey facility in Antioch passed a final vote at Tuesday night's Metro Council meeting.

The $14 million facility will be at the former Hickory Hollow Mall and will accommodate public, local youth leagues.

It will also serve as a new practice facility for the Nashville Predators, who will manage the property owned by the Metro Sports Authority.

A new community center, fitness center and library are also expected to open in Antioch Fall of 2014.

The library will be double the size of the current library nearby. The renovated space will also include a roof-top terrace for events and meetings.

The 40,000 square-foot community center will be located in the old JC Penney store and will have a gymnasium, dance studio and walking track.
