Titans trying to find few extra seconds on defense

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - NFL offenses are moving faster and faster, speeding up the tempo to take advantage of defenses. So the Tennessee Titans are trying to scratch out a precious few extra seconds.

They are practicing without the player-coach helmet communication system during training camp.

Coach Mike Munchak said Thursday they will see a lot of no-huddle offense during the season, with offenses trying to frustrate defenses and keep them from getting lined up properly.

An added bonus is their practice plan will help during games if the helmet system breaks down or if the defender wearing the helmet gets injured.

Cornerback Jason McCourty says signaling will give the Titans the chance to avoid huddling and set their defense against the likes of Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.
