Woman charged with assault of 11-year-old babysitter

A Cookville woman has been arrested after attacking her babysitter with a wooden spoon and chasing her off with a knife.

According to The Herald-Citizen, 36-year-old Isabela Sebastian assaulted the girl when she came to collect $12 she was owed for babysitting one of Sebastian's children on West 3rd Street.

Sebastian allegedly struck the 11-year-old with a wooden spoon, knocked her to the ground and proceeded to chase her away with a kitchen knife.

The girl's grandmother told police that Sebastian became upset when the young girl went inside the home.

She was left with a red mark on her back from the spoon.

Sebastian reported to police that she did strike the girl, but "only after the girl entered the home, jumping and laughing, and did not stop or leave when asked to", the newspaper states.

The woman also told authorities she was simply holding the knife when the incident occurred because she was in the middle of cutting tomatoes.

Sebastian is charged with aggravated assault and was booked at Putnam County jail on a $5,000 bond.

She is due in court August 19.
