Two men were caught in the act when police responding to a burglary in progress early Wednesday morning.
Around 3:55 a.m., 21-year-old Dashawn Patrick Slone and 18-year-old Markeal Moore tried to enter a home in the 900 block of Ireland Street.
The door was locked, however, and a witness heard noises and watched as they attempted to break into another nearby residence.
Dashawn and Slone managed to raise the window just as officers arrived, and ran into shrubs to hide themselves.
Slone was carrying burglary tools, 16 grams of marijuana and a gun magazine.
After searching the shrubs once the suspects were capture, police found a .45 caliber pistol. Slone later admitted that he was carrying it.
Moore was carrying a backpack full of DVDs and other items that he reported to police were taken from a nearby unlocked vehicle. Police, however, were unable to find the vehicle.
Slone is charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, possession of burglary tools, unlawful weapon possession, possession of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony and marijuana possession.
His bond is set at $70,000.
Moore is jailed on two counts of aggravated burglary, possession of burglary tools and felony theft.
