Several parents in Wilson County call the bus schedule set for their children "ridiculous." Jacob Ashford has two kids in public schools in Wilson County. Both are picked up by the bus at the end of their driveway on Liberty Hill Road, 15 miles away from their Watertown school. Ashford was informed that his kids would be picked up for school at 5:21 a.m. each school day, which will be the beginning of an hour and a half ride due to a schedule change. "It worries me about my kids having to get up that early. It's just not right. It's ridiculous," Ashford said. Ashford and several neighbors told Nashville's News 2 they are concerned about getting their kids up that early for school, where they're expected to be rested and ready to learn. "My concern as a parent is these children are expected to get up that early and perform well at school," parent Staci Mayberry said. "There's no way that they can do that." Nashville's News 2 reached out to a school board member regarding the situation and is still waiting for a response.
