Franklin police arrested former Tennessee Titans running back Jamie Harper over the weekend following a fight with his girlfriend.
Officers responded to the Extended Stay America on Bakers Bridge Avenue Saturday evening after the girlfriend called police.
The woman, who was injured, told police she got into a physical argument with Harper, who had already left the hotel.
Two hours later, Harper returned to the hotel and the victim again called police to say Harper was "banging on the door so hard the walls of the room were shaking."
Harper fled again by the time officers arrived but was stopped at the intersection of Westgate Circle near Moores Lane nearby.
The 23-year-old was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with domestic assault and booked into the Williamson County jail.
In a statement to police, Harper told officers he had been in a fight with his girlfriend and that he "pushed" his way past her.
The girlfriend told police she feared for her safety because Harper had been "beating on the door so violently," the police report stated.
Harper was drafted by the Titans in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played college football for the Clemson Tigers.
He was released by the Titans in May and is currently a free agent.
