Police: Vanderbilt sex crimes investigation nearing end

The sex crimes investigation on the campus of Vanderbilt University is nearing its end, according to a report in The Tennessean.

Metro police spokesperson Don Aaron told the paper investigators have just returned from the West Coast where they were sent to follow up on new leads.

Details were not released but Aaron said the investigation is nearing a conclusion.

The investigation centers on Vanderbilt football players Brandon Banks, Cory Batey, Jaborian "Tip" McKenzie and Brandon Vandenburg.

All four have been suspended from the university and dismissed from the team.

Vandenburg is from California, but police are not saying whether the new information is related to him.

A female student was allegedly sexually assaulted in an on-campus dormitory in late June.

Police have not said what the players' connection to the investigation is, and so far no charges have been filed.
