After decades of design, the Nashville man world-renowned for his celebrity couture is now offering a fashion line for the general public.
Manuel is a costumer and an image maker. Over the years, he's designed handmade, one-of-a-kind, statement pieces for Hollywood shows like Bonanza and Dallas, for big-screen beauties like Raquel Welch and Sofia Loren, and for music royalty like Johnny Cash and Elvis.
After 25 years in Nashville, Manuel decided to leave his fashion house in Midtown and move downtown with his New Vision collection that boasts affordable couture fashion.
"I would be a fool if I wanted to stick to my old manners of work, which is definitely handwork," Manuel told Nashville's News 2.
The fashion designer's 3,100-square foot retail space on Broadway is filled with his artistic flair. The new collection features leather goods, boots, pants, shirts and skirts. Each piece is unique, affordable and American-made.
Through a cost-efficient design process, Manuel is able to offer his pieces at a price point of $50 to $600.
While the price may be lower, the quality remains high-end.
"I can not sell junk," Manuel said. "The quality, the durability, the quality of the threads that we use, everything is there. It's just made faster."
Manuel will continue to make specialty items to meet the style and personality needs of his celebrity clientele, but he's excited about his new public venture.
"I love the fact that people can afford it," he said. "The people can have in their hands a nice piece, manufactured the most proper way, and guaranteed quality."
Celebrations for the new location and the new collection will be announced in the coming weeks.
Customers can shop Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 800 Broadway.
