Sidetrack Bar and Grill closing Friday after 25 years

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

South Nashville bar and grill Sidetrack is closing its doors Friday after a 25-year run. The restaurant is located at the corner of Haywood Lane and Nolensville Road.

Sidetrack was started a quarter-century ago by a man and his wife.

When owner Wendell McClaurd fell ill in early 2012, he passed Sidetrack along to his niece, Lisa VanStory.

VanStory worked in the bar as a very young girl and hoped to bring a new vitality to her old haunt.

Whether it is the current state of the economy or increasing utility and beer pricing, the numbers simply aren't working.

VanStory claims the area has seen polarizing changes over the years.

She said, "You have to come together as a family and stay together and this area has grown apart. And I am not God, so I can't fix it. Therefore, I'm going to hold onto my faith, shut the doors."

Sidetrack may be closing its doors this weekend, but anyone can take home a little piece of Sidetrack.

The bar will be selling all of its contents at auction on Sunday, July 28.

The auction is online, and bids are being taken now.
