Man injured during south Nashville home invasion, shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police are investigating an overnight home invasion and shooting in south Nashville that sent one man to the hospital.

According to police, a man and his girlfriend were asleep in their Pippin Drive home when as many as four suspects entered the residence.

One suspect entered the couple's bedroom and the 33-year-old man confronted the suspect, identified as a black male.

A struggled ensued, forcing the two men into the hallway, where the victim was shot in the hip.

The victim, who was not identified by police, ran from the home to his vehicle and then drove himself to Southern Hills Medical Center.

Police were called a short time later.

The woman, who was left at the home, was unharmed.

She told police that another suspect entered the bedroom and stole her purse before fleeing.

No information on the suspects has been provided.
