NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police are searching for a man who robbed a south Nashville sandwich shop employee Monday night.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. at the Jersey Mike's located in the Nashboro Village Shopping Center.

Police said the victim was outside smoking when she was approached by a man who asked for a cigarette.

She gave him one and walked back inside, but the man followed her.

That suspect then pulled up his shirt, showed a gun and announced the robbery.

The employee handed over the cash before the suspect fled.

A police dog tracked a scent into the woods behind the strip mall but the trail went cold.

Police are looking for a white man in his 40s.  He is clean shaven and was wearing a white and blue plaid shirt, blue jeans, and a ball cap at the time of the robbery.

Anyone with information should call Metro police or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
