Brentwood orthodontist Dr. Rachael Maidens was shot 10 times, testimony during a motions hearing revealed on Monday.
Police found the 34-year-old mother dead on the evening of April 21. Her husband, Randolph "Randy" Maidens, was arrested and charged following an overnight manhunt.
In the hearing regarding the wrongful death lawsuit filed against Randy Maidens, Brentwood police Lt. John Wood testified that Rachael Maidens' body was found underneath a comforter in the living room of the couple's Governors Club home.
Lt. Wood said she had been shot 10 times; eight with a .9 mm handgun and twice with a shotgun.
Randy Maidens told detectives he hid the handgun in the woods and even drew a map. Investigators, however, never found it.
Maidens is charged with criminal homicide, two counts of evidence tampering and child neglect after investigators found the Maidens' two-year-old daughter alone in the family's home.
He pleaded not guilty to all the counts against him last month, and remains out of jail on a $750,000 bond.
Maidens isn't scheduled to return to court again on the criminal charges until November 12.
Late Monday afternoon, a judge ruled that Maidens could return to his home in the exclusive Governors Club within the next 72 hours.
A judge planned to notify Brentwood police.
Dr. Rachael Maidens worked as an orthodontist in Brentwood's Maryland Farms area.
