UT fraternities making major changes

Posted: Updated: July 21, 2013 10:02 PM
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -

Major changes are happening to fraternities at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

The Commercial Appeal reported that the changes are taking place after the university's embarrassing "alcohol enema" incident, which drew national headlines last year in September.

By 2014, all UT fraternities will have a live-in house director as well as extra weekend security.

Students will be expected to maintain a 2.75 grade point average for fraternity membership.

A task force recommended the changes after a 20-year-old student was hospitalized for allegedly taking a "wine enema" last fall.

Two fraternity chapters have shut down since the event took place.
