'Contributor' salesman struck by motorist

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A salesman for "The Contributor" newspaper was walking to his sales location when a motorist struck him in Antioch Thursday morning.

The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. in the 3100 block of Murfreesboro Pike.

A preliminary investigation indicates the driver left the scene, but later returned.

The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical but stable condition.

Police reported that the driver, a 21 year old, was driving on a learner's permit.

Charges are pending.

No further information was released.

One outbound lane of Murfreesboro Pike was closed while authorities investigated.  It has since reopened.
