COLUMBIA, Tenn. -

Two men were critically wounded in a stabbing early Wednesday morning in Columbia.

Residents at the Graymere Apartments located at 1955 Union Place called police around 4:30 a.m. after finding a man bleeding in the stairwell.

Upon arrival, police found the victim, identified as Marben "Melbin" Belladi, and discovered he had a stab wound to one of his arms.

Authorities then followed a trail of blood leading up two floors of the apartment complex into a residence with a partially opened door.

Inside, they found a second victim, identified as 20-year-old Jerusalen "Alejandro" Cortez Barradas, who was unresponsive with multiple wounds.

Both victims were flown via LifeFlight helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for treatment.

Through preliminary investigations, detectives determined Barradas attacked Belladi with a glass beer bottle and large knife.

He has since been taken into police custody and is charged with aggravated assault.

The investigation is ongoing.
