NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police arrested a convicted felon Sunday for the death of a 58-year-old homeless man whose body was discovered in a south Nashville alley one day earlier.

A man leaving his residence on Clairborne Street discovered the body of Rex Wilson around 7:15 a.m. Saturday.

Sunday morning, police arrested convicted felon James Bush, 37, on a charge of criminal homicide.

During an interview with detectives, Bush admitted his involvement in Wilson's death, police said.

The preliminary investigation indicates Wilson died from blunt force trauma.

Robbery may have been the motive.  Area residents reportedly heard yelling in the alley around 2:30 a.m., police said.

Bush has previous convictions for aggravated assault, assault of an officer, domestic assault, burglary, theft and DUI.

He is being held in the Metro jail in lieu of a $1.5 million bond.

The investigation continues.
