A convention highlighting the latest equipment in the music industry took over the Music City Center this weekend.

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) showcased and highlighted new technologies in all aspects of music, from recording equipment to instruments themselves.

Matt Harpster with Virgin Musical Instruments showed Nashville's News 2 the XKey, one of the thinnest and smallest keyboards on the market.

"It's good for any mobile creation. It works with iPads, iPhones, Androids," he explained.

Al John Joe explained the new Mini Tune, a very small piece of technology that automatically tunes guitars after being turned on.

"It tunes itself. In about a few seconds, you're ready to rock on the stage or in the studio or at home," he explained.

Joe continued, "It doesn't mess with the tone of the guitar, because that's what people want, the classic tone of the Gibson."The convention will feature over 400 booths and expect close to 12,000 visitors.

The convention was held Saturday, which was also Music Industry Day.
