A man was arrested and charged with his third DUI on Monday.
The arrest occurred after police were notified of a crash on Briley Parkway near Murfreesboro Road.
Clarence Brown Jr., 33, was driving a Honda northbound when he collided with a Saturn traveling southbound around 3:20 p.m.
Brown left the scene of the crash after exchanging information with the driver and went home before police arrived.
Authorities went to Brown's home and found him next door. They noticed he smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet.
Brown denied drinking anything before or after the accident. He also told police that he had his three or four year old niece inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Brown agreed to a blood test. His results are pending.
He was arrested and charged with third DUI with a child, which is a misdemeanor offense.
He was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident and being a habitual offender violation.
His bond is set at $13,000.
Brown has two prior DUI convictions from 2010 and 2011; his license was suspended at the time of accident.
