Residents oppose business storing portable toilets outside

Some neighbors in the Woodlawn Community are fighting a proposed zoning change that would allow a nearby business to store portable toilets outside.

Tony Kennedy, owner of Kennedy Septic Tank, wants to rezone his commercial property on Dover Road to allow for storage of the toilet units.

Kennedy said the portable toilets would be kept behind his business and hidden by a privacy fence.

But some residents say not in their neighborhood.

Neighbors who are fighting the change say they are concerned about a potential foul smell and water runoff.

Mike White and his wife live three doors down from the business and are circulating a petition to oppose the change. So far they have collected 97 signatures.

The Montgomery County Commission will vote on the zoning change at Monday night's meeting.
