MT. JULIET, Tenn. -

A Mt. Juliet family's hard work and dedication to honoring their daughter has paid off.

Shortly after losing their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Ava, Krista Bright began the Avalyn Shaye Foundation.

"We lost Ava in March 2010 to a routine tonsillectomy," Bright said.

Through the foundation, Bright raised enough money to open Ava's Splash Pad, a water playground for the community.

The new playground is located at the Charlie Daniels Park behind the community center in Mt. Juliet.

Ava's Splash Pad is expected to be open just in time for the 4th of July on Thursday.
