A major expansion was approved for the Fontanel Mansion Thursday evening.
Council members gave the go-ahead for a 140 room resort that will run about 1,000 feet north of Lloyd Road in north Nashville.
The Fontanel Mansion is a 27,000 square foot home built out of logs, and each resort home will be modeled with the same style.
People in the community hope it is something that increases property value.
"And allow people to say, 'Come into my new home that I built in Whites Creek and let's eat at this award winning cafe and just do all the fun things that are available to us', said Zan Martin with Fontanel Public Relations of the resort.
Some neighbors, however, expressed concern that a resort would change the landscape of their community.
Many of those concerns have been resolved.
Construction is set to begin next year with the grand opening in 2015.
