NCAA, NLOC unveil logo for women's Final Four tournament
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
The logo for the 2014 NCAA Women's Final Four tournament was unveiled Thursday by the NCAA and Nashville Local Organizing Committee (NLOC).
The unveiling was also a celebration of women's basketball and included the NCAA, NLOC, Ohio Valley Conference and the Nashville Sports Council.
The logo is an homage to the history of Nashville, including color palettes and an overall theme inspired by the city.
It features sound holes that are frequently seen on classic arched top guitars and a tag that reads "Music City".
The logo also includes four stars to represent the Women's Final Four teams participating in the tournament.
"The NCAA Women's Final Four is a celebration of the best of the best in the game and Nashville will be part of one of America's premiere sporting events" said Beth DeBauche, commissioner of the host OVC and one of three chairs leading the NLOC efforts.
She continued, "We are thrilled to be hosting and know that it will bring with it a number of significant legacy initiatives which will positively affect the Nashville community for years to come."
The Vice President of the NCAA women's basketball championships said that the road to Nashville is now open.
"Nashville has certainly proven itself a great host to world class events and we expect that the city will put on one of the best Women's Final Fours ever in 2014," she stated.
The events will be held at the Bridgestone Area on April 6 and April 8.
