A man arrested for his ninth driving on a revoked license offense earlier this week said he knew he would be jailed following a minor wreck. The accident involving Eddie Lee occurred in Murfreesboro on Tommy Martin Drive and Broad Street Monday morning. Lee was just a few yards from his job when the wreck happened. "The lady was right beside me and she either got into me or I got into her," he said. "I pretty much knew they were going to arrest me, but I got to get back and forth to work."Lee has 40 driving related offenses including nine arrests for driving on a revoked license and two DUI convictions. He also has multiple convictions for marijuana possession and other drug charges."I quit drinking when I was 21 or 22," he said. "I haven't had a DUI in years."Lee told Nashville's News 2 he cannot get a hardship license that would allow him to drive himself to work. He said works to support his mother after his father's recent death and his girlfriend who is unable to work due to a medical condition. "That's the reason [my girlfriend] can't drive me back and forth to work," Lee said. "I don't drive unless I have to."Lee said he cannot get his driver license reinstated until he pays all of his outstanding court costs and fines for his numerous arrests. He estimates he owes $15,000 to $20,000. "It makes it hard on me," he said. "It just means I have to work that much harder."Lee is free on $1,000 bond and is due in Rutherford County General Sessions Court July 16, 2013.He is also on probation for an unrelated arrest.
