A one-mile stretch of Interstate 440 East between Interstate 65 and Interstate 24 will be closed for 10 weekends beginning June 28 while crews work to widen the highway.
No construction or lane closures will occur during the Fourth of July or Labor Day holiday weekends or during the weekend of the Titans' first pre-season game on August 24 and regular season games beginning in September.
The scheduled closures are as follows:
June 28 to July 30
July 12 to July 15
July 19 to July 22
July 26 to July 29
August 2 to August 5
August 9 to August 12
August 16 to August 19
September 6 to September 9
September 13 to September 16
October 11 to October 13
Motorists are advised to take the following detours during the closures:
From the North, take I-65 South to the I-65/I-40 split over to I-24
From the South, take I-65 North to go to I-24/I-40 or take the Harding Place exit over to I-24
From the West, stay on I-40 East to the I-65/I-40 split over to I-24
Motorists on I-440 Eastbound will be advised to take I-65 North over to I-24 or I-40
The closures are part of a $9.7 million Tennessee Department of Transportation project to widen I-440.
According to TDOT officials, more than 106,000 vehicles travel the 7.66 mile I-440 corridor each day.
