Son tries to set mother's home on fire after argument escalates

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

An 18-year was taken into police custody on Saturday afternoon after he attempted to set his mother's Antioch home on fire.

Police have arrested Martez Horton for setting fire to a home in the 100 block of Robert Yoest Street after Martez Horton and his mother got into an argument.

According to police, Horton got into a fight with his mother after she asked him to turn the music down.

Police reported that Horton poured gasoline on the home's front porch, but was unable to spark a fire.

The teen then walked to the back of the home and poured gasoline on the back door and lit it on fire.

Officials said minimum damage was reported.

Three other family members were inside the home at the time, including a four-month-old and 13-year-old.

No injuries were reported.

Horton has been charged with aggravated arson and reckless endangerment.
