According to a report by The Tennessean, Metro and the Nashville Predators are expected to announce new plans Monday for a community hockey facility at the former Hickory Hollow Mall.

The new hockey rink could be used as a new practice facility for the Nashville Predators.

The rink is planned to be placed at the north entrance of the mall, now known as the Global Mall at the Crossings.

A new library, community center and park are also in the works.

Details of the new development, including the cost, are expected to be revealed at Monday's announcement.

The new facility would be the latest addition to a movement aimed at revitalizing the Hickory Hollow area of Antioch.

Antioch has suffered a significant loss of business revenue after the closure of the former Hickory Hollow Mall, as well as the closures of Best Buy and Target nearby.

Although the mall has reopened as the Global Mall at the Crossings, it lacks major retail stores.

The planned new hockey facility would also help meet a need for more ice rinks in the Nashville area.
