A mother and her young son are recovering from injuries after being attacked by a neighbor's dogs while walking on the sidewalk along their street.The incident occurred Saturday evening on North Maple Street in Murfreesboro.The woman told Nashville's News 2 one of the dogs ran up to her 18-month-old son who was in a stroller and bit his hand. As the mother attempted to get the dog away from him, a second dog bit her calf.
"They just came up out of the blue. He was not making a noise or a sound and it was not provoked so they just bit us out of the blue like they were crazy," said Larriane Reyes.
The mother quickly called 911.The officer who responded said he noticed the dogs running after other neighbors while he was at the home.The dogs, both pit bull mixes, are being quarantined for 10 days.The Pet Adoption and Welfare Services office has opened an investigation.Officers said they have been called to the dog's home before after neighbors complained about the animals.
The owner was issued a citation for allowing her pets to run at large.She told Nashville's News 2 the dogs broke out of their kennel and that she is sorry for what happened.
"I am very sorry for the woman and her child. I understand any means she takes against me. I am a mother, I would as well," said Lindsey Mcauley.
The mother and little boy suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The dogs were up to date on their rabies vaccinations.
