Man robbed at knifepoint south of downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police are looking for a man who robbed another man at knifepoint south of downtown Nashville Tuesday morning.

The incident happened just after 1 a.m. on 9th Avenue South and Hillside Avenue.

The victim told police he was looking for a nearby market.

When he asked another man for directions, that man said he was also going to the market and would take him there.

As they were walking, the suspect turned to the victim and pulled out a knife.

He put it up to the victim's neck and demanded his money. The victim complied and gave him $60 and prescription medication.

The victim received lacerations to the back of his neck and he was transported to an area hospital. He is expected to be okay.

The suspect fled on foot. He is described as a black male with a scruffy beard. He is approximately 45 years old and was wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt at the time of the robbery.

No further details were immediately released.
