A fire turned deadly when flames engulfed the home of a family in Carthage Saturday night.
Four people have been confirmed dead due to the massive flames. Two of them were children.
Fire officials told Nashville's News 2 one of the deceased victims is a toddler. The other is a child under the age of 12.
Fire officials said the fire started around 11:30 p.m. on Hull Avenue.
Officials said nine people lived in the home.
Investigators don't know if the family was sleeping during the fire or if there were smoke alarms inside the home.
Two people remain in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Another was transported to a local hospital in Carthage for observation.
Two people were released from the local hospital Sunday morning.
Authorities said the fire is the first fatal blaze in Carthage since 2006.
According to EMA officials, two firefighters were also hurt on the scene. One was taken to the hospital after a brick wall collapsed but is expected to be fine.
The fire was contained at 1:45 a.m.
The victims' identities were not immediately released.
The fire remains under investigation.
