Vanderbilt's Kemp, 3 others drafted in first 10 rounds

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Four of Tim Corbin's diamond Dores were selected in the first 10 rounds of this years MLB draft. 

Reigning SEC Player of the Year Tony Kemp was selected by the Houston Astros in the fifth round (137th overall).

Then Junior second baseman is a three year starter for Vanderbilt. This season he is batting .398 and has stole 32 based in 46 attempts.

Some draft experts predicted Kemp to go much lower in the draft.

The Astros also selected the other half of the right side of Vanderbilt's infield.

Houston picked junior first baseman Conrad Gregor in the fourth round (107th overall).

Gregor is currently batting .314 with a .443 on base percentage, which is the highest among Vanderbilt starters. Gregor also leads the SEC in walks with 53.

Much like the Astros, the Tigers also drafted a pair of Commodores.

Junior left handed pitcher Kevin Ziomek was selected in Thursday's second round (58th overall) by Detroit.

The Friday starter currently holds an ERA of 1.92 and a record of 11-2. Ziomek leads the SEC in strikeouts with 111 punch outs. 

Connor Harrell became the second Commodore taken by the Tigers in the seventh round (216th overall).

The senior center fielder has a .313 batting average and leads the Commodores with 12 home runs this season, 66 RBIs and a slugging percentage of .535.

He is the only Vanderbilt starter with a 1.000 fielding percentage.
